Where do you ship the Meat Club?

We offer free overnight shipping of our Meat Club to anywhere in California. For delivery to addresses outside of California, please email support@prmeatco.com to be notified of when we start shipping to your state. To provide flexibility to our valued customers, we offer different options as to when our deliveries will arrive to you. Please visit the “Learn More” section of the Website on these options and how to change your selection.

How will my order be delivered?

Deliveries are made to your door on Thursdays. Prather Ranch Meat Co. uses overnight shipping with Ontrac to deliver your order. Each box is carefully packaged to stay cold until at least 6pm on the day of delivery. However, To maintain the highest quality and integrity of the items after delivery, we recommend that you immediately refrigerate or freeze the items when you receive them. Furthermore, you should inspect your package to ensure the contents arrive at 41F or less. The best way to do this is to check the temperature with a meat thermometer. If a product arrives at above 41F, you should contact our customer service by calling (415) 378-2917.

If you are not home when a delivery arrives, our delivery person will leave the package for you at your door. Again, since our food is packaged with insulated liners and gel packs, it will remain cold and fresh until at least 6pm.

Anyone at the delivery address who receives the delivery is conclusively presumed to be authorized to receive the delivery. In cases in which you have designated an alternative receiver, such person shall accept the product under all of the same terms and conditions that would apply had you accepted the delivery yourself.

How can I tell if the meat in my delivery is cold enough?

Your meat should arrive at 44 °F or colder. If you are concerned that your meat has not stayed cold enough, you can measure the temperature by taking two pieces of meat out of the box and placing a calibrated thermometer in between the meat packages with the display facing out. Wait 15- 20 seconds to get an accurate reading. The temperature should be at or under 44 °F. If a product arrives at above 44 °F, you should contact our customer service by calling (415) 378-2917.

How do I make sure my thermometer is reading temperature accurately?

To ensure your thermometer is calibrated, place ice in a cup of water and let sit for 5 minutes. Place the thermometer probe in the ice water. It should read 32 °F. If it does not, the thermometer needs to be adjusted to read 32 °F when in ice water - refer to the manufacturer instructions as calibration steps vary depending on thermometer make and model.

How should I store my meat?

You should store your meat in the refrigerator or freezer.  You should cook refrigerated meat after 5 days, or freeze it.  If you purchase or receive meat that is partially thawed, you can refreeze and thaw at a later date. To defrost frozen meat, thaw it in the packaging in the refrigerator for about 1 day before using.

How do I recycle my shipment packaging?

We ship your order in packaging that is recyclable or made of biodegradable materials.

Your box, cardboard inserts and any paper liners can be recycled with standard cardboard/paper recycling (be sure to flatten your box first). All small plastic bags or tubs can be recycled with plastic recyclables. These are #4 and #2 recyclables respectively. If you receive a thin foil bubble liner, it can be recycled with plastics. This liner is #7 recyclable.

Our ice packs are filled with a biodegradable gel. To recycle them, cut the bag open and squeeze the gel into green waste, mulch or compost. You can then recycle bag with your plastics.

You are also welcome to bring your shipment packaging back to us at the farmer's market and we will happily recycle it for you.
